|07:52 pm - Wordpress is Garbage|
I had to do a wordpress password reset for a user today. When I googled how to do this (from the raw database), I got these
Really cleanly, clearly, well-written.
...except they don't work.
Recently, Wordpress decided to implement their OWN password hashing algorithm. Which means that while it's less immune to rainbow
tables of plain MD5, it means ALL this documentation is shot and doesn't work anymore.
Yay for letting your community write your documentation for you.
Their documentation is awful and their support community is full of the most stuck-up, unhelpful douchebags ever. Googling for solutions outside of the official website is much more helpful.

I've always felt that there was something iffy about Wordpress, like it was a crappy tool that became built-up and polished due to the sheer popularity it fell into.
Which is true, I'm sure. I'm just saying.
I just make sure the WP admin email is correct (changing it if not via MySQL), then using WP's own "Lost your password?" function.
But yeah, look on the bright side, at least you didn't have to troubleshoot his theme. I still get nightmares about being forced to do that at one of my old jobs.
